General -  EMERGENCY: add to cart is broken

I am having a problem that I just noticed and was pointed out to me in the discussions board at the AWS site.
Seems that the buy button is not functioning as my sites.

I get this message when I click to ADD TO SHOPPING CART in the popup window:

"Looking for something?
We're sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site

Go to Amazon.com's Home Page"

I emailed Amazon but anyone else getting this should asap email Amazon.

This is the code I am using. I have replaced my site code with the other option of just going to the product page but that's a disaster for me. I had it setup where customers added to their carts directly and I feel this was MUCH more efficient for me.

Whew - I am glad not the only one. I think these links all stopped at some point in June.

Amazon Associates wrote me regarding this issue this morning. I didn't clearly get them to keep going and try to add the item to the cart. So I just rewrote them,

However they made the following statement that worried me:
they "no longer offer QuickClick links"

I find this weird because two to three years ago they themselves urged us all to convert to these type of links because the had the highest conversion rate. And I agree! I like them.

This year I have admittedly left my Amazon affiliate stuff on "auto-pilot" and I have not been visiting the forum here at all. Was there an announcement on QuickClick links that I missed?

thanks!

HOLY CRAP!

If it wasn't for your post I would have never known. Why didn't they email us about this? It's a serious problem. Man I might have lost a lot of sales because of this and it totally forces me to make some serios changes to all my aws sites as this is my preferred method.

OMG I AM PEAVED!

I just got a call from Amazon in response from my email. Seems that Amazon add to cart is SUPPOSE to work. She worked for about 15 minutes with me and we came to no solid conclusions and she is going to push this to a tech. It was weird cuz she was IE6 but not Javascript enabled so she could not see the script popup not working.

She says tomorrow she will give me another call about this.

Anyone else with this issue please post about it and contact Amazon asap. I have no idea how long this has been going on but it's very bad.

See http://forums.prosperotechnologies.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=am-associhelp&msg=12210.1&ctx=5 .

The required javascript code is missing from the head of the pop-up window's source code.

Any word on this?

I wish the Associates Program would keep us informed of this type of thing.  I don't neccesarily care when they screw up like this.  However, I get annoyed with the hush-hush way they fix things.

It's particularly bad in the AWS area, where they constantly make changes without testing.  Which brings up another point, do they ever TEST?  The changes they made to the buy button could not have been tested.  It seems to be an across the board break.  A simple test would have made this a non-issue.

Could this have anything to do with it?

This is really great. Why would anyone bother with Amazon links after this debacle?

A couple years ago I used to laugh at people who complained on this forum about Amazon's zigs and zags. I'm not laughing any more.

I tested adding the developer's token to the add-to-cart code. Got the same error page.

Associates -

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We are looking in to a problem where Quick-Click Buying Links are not performing correctly. Please note that Web Services Add-to-Cart forms are functioning correctly.

Regards,

The Amazon.com Associates Team
