Change of Term. Read!!!!

Over the next ten days Amazon.com will be changing the pay structure that it has in place with you today to one in which we pay you referral fees only on items that we send to you (and result in a sale on our website) on a regular basis.

To incorporate these new payment changes, we have attached an amendment to the existing Associates Operating agreement that you have in place with Amazon.com today. To migrate to the new pay structure, please print out, sign, and fax the amended agreement [fax #: (206) 266-1352] by close of business on Friday, October 13. Alternatively, if you prefer to not continue as an Amazon Associate, there is no action required on your part because our existing agreement will be terminated on October 16. Please note that if you choose to discontinue with the Associates program. you will be paid referral fees through October 16 only during the 4th quarter of 2006.

Amazon.com values our business relationship and we certainly hope that you choose to continue as a member of the Amazon Associates program. We recognize that transitioning to a new business model may have its challenges, which is why we are open to your feedback on this new payment structure moving forward.

Thank you for your time,

Amazon.com Associates team

How true is this? and if completely true could someone break it down to what exactly this might mean because how it sounds (at least to me) is that we will be getting no more commission unless its from items that are ordered regularly?(whatever that means)
Please respond with more info because if this is the way it sounds unless someone is ordering the same thing over and over again no one will be getting anything which is an excellent reason to find other sources.
Thank you in advance.

I can't even make sense of that statement. "Items that we send to you?" "On a regular basis?"

Many people dont believe this and thought its a scam. I know its true because I received the amendment of the agreement with our Co. name and other forms to sign up. Everything seems legal from Amazon.com. And its not a scam at all.

There is a discussion over here.

I sure hope I don't get this email. It would be devastating. In fact, it's scary enough that this is apparently happening for some associates at all.

I don't even understand what that email means. Can somebody from Amazon reading this explain?

Well I am completely confused. I have no idea what your message means, and it does not make me feel comfortable about your long term commitment to a sales commission structure. During the time of the Sales History, Amazon has available to see online (Jan 2001), I have sold $75,000 worth of your products, and have been selling Amamzon since 1997 so I believe my total is over 100K.

Are you now convinced that you no longer need a sales force? Please let us know what your plans are. The History Channel is recruiting.

Greetings Associates,

Rest assured that the standard online Asssociates Operating Agreement (http://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/network/help/operatinghas not changed payment and compensation terms from Q3 (http://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/network/help/t2/a1/ref=amb_link_1037912_1).

So, unless you have been contacted directly, your current business relationship with Amazon.com is not affected as described in the first post on this thread. The changes mentioned in that post impact a small segment of the Associates community.  Amazon.com on occasion will work directly with certain targeted segments of the Associates community, and in doing so may modify the existing operating agreement for those Associates only.

Now this is confirmed.

From what I have heard around, all top tier publishers are affected.

Yes, 5% top tier publisher is a small amount.

But those 5% contributes 95% of sales generated by all affiliates!!!! So its not true that this change only affects a small amount. They affect almost most of affilite sales.

We are one of those who received this change notice and we are among top tier affiliates. We do nothing wrong but just put links generated via amazon.com associate center and generate sales for them on links on our site when customers click our links thru and buy them. Thats all our business model, nothing else, no search engine marketing, or anything else.

If Amazon.com don't want our sale force, thats just fine. I won't continue such kind of term since its not fair at all!!!!

So basically this is our reward for climbing to the upper tiers of the associates program? You'll limit our commissions and hold back reporting so we don't know what we're earning. Are there financial troubles that are causing a downsize to the associates program? That's what it sounds like to me. This looks bad for all associates, not just those directly affected. What happens when this downsize continues down the ranks? Will the tiers drop a percentage or two? Or maybe we'll need more shipped items for the same levels. Now I'm very wary to put much time into Amazon.
