No, completely free.  Just sign up, give them your data, and wait to be approved.

Good luck.

David.

No, but apparently, they charge you referal fees to sell their stuff this quarter, but only if you choose tiers. According to the reports, I owe them almost six bucks!

I only owe three bucks, but I'm a long-time associate and they have probably decided that I should be treated leniently.

Do they accept personal checks?

Thanks.

David.

One of my clients already owes $70 in 3 days.  At this rate he will have to give back last quarters earnings by the end of this month.

haha

Yes, in blood, sweat, tears and occasionally buying a round of beer for everybody. (it is ok, it is only virtual beer) But seeing how you posted here, how are you NOT an Associate?

How do you owe money???  How does that come about?? did they send you too much money?  did they give you the money then the person returned the item? i dont get it...i was hoping i could just sell items, then get money, why does it have to be so complicated?

Yes, you pay a fee, BIG time. If you are at 5% for example, every time you sell an item that costs over $200, you pay a fee.

Strago,

I pay a lot of FEES to be in the Amazon Associates program, but they are all worth it. Someday they'll help me be really successful and qualify for the free house bonus....

Everytime someone goes to my website and buys a new copy of a book that I was trying to sell used in the marketplace, I have to pay a FEE to store that book for another month....  Of course I didn't really want to sell my used copy anyhow, my other 20,000 books could get lonely....

Of course Amazon also charges all my website visitors a membership FEE before they can buy anything from my website (they call it a shipping and membership fee which confuses 1-2% of them into actually sticking around and paying it), and there is a really great scheme to split those FEES back with me and the website I first rode in on when I signed up, and also with his referer too back through seven levels, as long as I don't clear my browser cache or leave my computer on for more than 24 hours....

They also make me pay a FEE every month to receive an audio tape of the month from various important people in the company, and other successful Associates, exhorting me how to sell more books and non-media items. Sometimes they include discontinued motivational books with diagonal pieces cut off the corner of the covers...  Most of the time I dont have time to listen to these tapes or read anything more than the back covers of the books. I have a huge pile in my trunk that I'll listen to someday, but last month I had time and that tape was really good. JB's topic was how bad I should feel about all the books in my house that didn't come from Amazon. Fortunately he didn't charge me a FEE to list them all in the marketplace so I can eventually exchange them all for Amazon purchased books. My wife was happy I felt so guilty I rented a storage to get them all out of the house, but she doesn't know yet about the replacements I'm going to order when I spend the entire commission gift certificate I'm waiting for from Amazon for last quarter....

But I also think eBay licensed that presentation, they sent me a tape that made me feel really guilty about all the non eBay stuff I have, and I was really encouraged to try and get rid of it all on eBay, but they wanted to charge me a FEE for every item whether they sell or not. But fortunately they beat the other company to the patent on the idea of no-sale FEEs, I'm really glad that saves me from having to pay a FEE for every visitor I send to Amazon who doesn't buy.....

I also have to pay an annual FEE to receive monthly magazines featuring the smiling faces of successful Associates on the cover.....  The last issue had a coupon code for a discount on the FEE to get a full color poster of the new commission structure for Q3, I hope they get that back in stock to send to me before it changes again for Q4.....

The webmaster of the site that refered me to Amazon (my sponsor) just wrote me about the small FEE he wants to sell me some "motivational cassettes" (B000069KAB) that I can mail to my website visitors to convince them to come back to my site and actually buy something....

My sponsor also gave me the ASIN to buy batteries from him, B00003IE4N. He said it's really bad to ever buy from someone else something that Amazon offers. For example, he told me never to buy a 48 pack of batteries at costco for $8, or even only just the 2 I need at the grocery store, because I can buy 72, B00008MOQ6,  for a FEE of about $36 and he will earn a commission. I'm really glad he calls me every couple of days to keep me psyched up about buying things from his Amazon website.....

Next month when I travel to see my sister, a small FEE to buy B00008MOQD should keep me safe from SARS.  Her friend likes to eat chalk, and I think B00009AOCI ought to satisfy her, but does anyone know what color it is? She can't stand the green chalk....

My sponsoring webmaster also offered me a low FEE 1000 minute calling card B00006ISCK that I can order from him. He promised to help me use it to do some three-way calls to all my old friends from high school, and distant relatives to, to ask them to come and pay FEEs to sign up for Amazon. He said we'll make a lot of commissions from them. And the FEES aren't too much to buy lists of people who know how to read so we can also call them and ask them to come and sign up....

I also signed up to pay a small FEE to have the number of a weekly conference call to help me learn how to be a better Associate. That one really helps me on the long second month stretch of the quarter until the next commission gift certificate....

My sponsor wasn't sure if my best selling item, B00006GQCK, qualifies as a non-media item. I hope to ask on the next conference call.

I'm still saving up the FEE to go to the annual convention in Seattle to actually meet all these other Associates and learn why they are so much more successful than me.... If I can get into the 8th tear, sniff, before the convention, I heard from my sponsor that I'll get a FEE-free tour of the various closets that the foreign Amazons are stored in...  The best thing is that at the conventions you can save a lot on the FEEs for the various courses that you need to buy to learn how to sell more and get into the diamond tieras, like the Non-Media Sellers Course that I have been wanting to buy, if only I could afford the FEE.....

- Garnet

P.S. BTW, a site visitor bought a $200 marketplace book the other day (not one of my books, someone elses), but I was happy with the commission it generated....  It beat the commission on all the new books I sold that day.... Broom closets, here I come.....

P.P.S. If everyone else knows if B00006GQCK is a non-media item, I'd sure appreciate knowing....
